"We had an absolutely amazing time. Seeing the jet black sand at Vik contrasting with the white snow on one side and the white waves on the other was stunning. And of course the waterfalls were frozen which made for some great photography. Our Golden circle tour was also brilliant because there was snow everywhere and the sunrise up by the mountain lake was breathtaking. We were the only ones snowmobiling on the glacier and despite the temperature being about - 19 it was a real adventure"
"Hotel Ranga was amazing in terms of comfort, food, and friendliness of the staff. We were treated to some brilliant views of the Northern Lights on our first night there. The excursions were well organised and very enjoyable. I could write pages on The Golden Circle Tour but I doubt I could do justice to the brilliance of the experience and the enthusiasm and pride of the people involved in taking us. Hotel Centrum in Reykjavik was different in style to Hotel Ranga but none the less impressive and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the short break you arranged"

DAY 1
Fly Reykjavik and Drive to Hotel Ranga

Fly to Reykjavik. On arrival pick up your hire car and drive to Hotel Ranga (2 hrs) to start your Northern Lights break to Iceland.

Hotel Ranga is famous as one of the best places in Iceland to see the Northern Lights. It is in an area where clear skies are more usual than elsewhere, which is very good for Aurora Borealis viewing. As the hotel lies in a secluded, countryside area without external lighting the hotel provides excellent opportunity to view the Northern Lights without light interference or pollution.

Sitting in one of the outdoor hot tubs with a drink is the most wonderful place to watch the skies to see if the Northern Lights appear. Overnight at Hotel Ranga.

Please see the video opposite to get a taster of the Northern Lights in Iceland.

The Super-Jeep will take you over the Glaciers on the top up a long way up and then there is about an hours walk from the end of the SuperJeep Trail to the Volcano where you can explore the volcano with its breathtaking views over the Þórsmörk valley and back across to the Atlantic Ocean.

As fast as a trot it is much smoother- Indeed there are competitions where people hold full glasses of unspoilt beer as they ride the tolt!
