The Saracen Joust of Arezzo is an ancient game of chivalry, dating back to the Middle Ages when it was an exercise for military training. It has gained a strongly competitive spirit between the 4 quartieri and the rules remain unchanged since 1677. We offer Balcony viewing where you can watch in comfort. Combine this with the Oldest Antique Fair in Italy in the heart of Arezzo and you certainly have a trip into the culture and history of Italy.

Day 1
Fly to Florence, Self Drive to Arezzo, Visit The Legend of the True Cross, Open-Air Quartiere Dinner with locals
Start your unusual weekend away by flying to Florence and picking up a car hire. Drive the @ 1 hr to Arezzo and check in.
This afternoon you will visit a beautiful Church called The Legend of the True Cross painted by Arezzo Bicci Lorenzo and Piero della Francesca between 1447 and 1466.
This evening you have the privilege to join the locals at one of the competing Quartiere Dinners.
This is an open-air four course dinner with wine where you will meet the fellow supporters of the Quartiere and have a great street party for all; children, teenagers, adults and elderly people will all be there- there is nothing to rival Italian passion at these events!
Day 2
Visit Italys oldest and largest Antique Fair. Watch Jousting from Balcony
Today there is an amazing open-air fair with over 500 exhibitors from all over Italy. Founded in 1968 this has grown in status and size and set in the heart of the medieval city of Arezzo is fascinating way to gain an insight into Italian culture and spend the morning.
By 5pm you will be on your balcony watching the colourful historical parade of 350 people which culminates in the blessing of the Men at Arms. This is followed by the Knights Tournament where they will gallop with their Lance against the Saracen.
Jousting dates back to the Middle ages and whilst this festival was originally set up in 1931 as a historical re-enactment this now has a strongly competitive spirit between the four Quartieri (town parts) who challenge each other in a mix of ability, power and precision.
Day 3
Self drive back to Florence, Private Uffizzi Tour, Self Drive to airport for your flight home
Self drive back to Florence for your private Uffizzi Tour which is pre-booked so you do not have to queue.
Drive out to the airport for your late afternoon flight home.
