“We particularly loved the night safari on the snowmobile, driving, quite fast, on frozen lakes under a starry sky. Our guides, Andreas and Bijorn, were fantastic and you could see they genuinely enjoy people and the outdoor is not just a job for them”

Northern Lights Special Holiday Information

You are likely to witness one of nature’s great phenomena, the Northern Lights. Since time immemorial, through different cultures there have been many beliefs about what creates this majestic lighting of the sky at night. Whereas in the Middle Ages it was treated with great suspicion, we now know that the Northern Lights are created by the Sun’s plasma reacting with the magnetic fields of the Polar region. Come and see it for yourself, you will be in awe!

When to visit Swedish Lapland

December through to mid April is peak season for Northern Lights.

We can organise departures on most days of the week. Costwise Friday and Sunday departures works out best. For planning purposes a 3 night break is the average length of break to Kiruna. We would always recommend an active programme for longer stays. If you plan to stay at the Ice Hotel this is better value on Monday - Wednesday nights.
