Ravello Music Festival Weekend Break Helpful Information

An Italian town Ravello on the beautiful Amalfi Coast annually hosts Ravello Festival and has developed its cultural identity as "Città della musica".

The festival was founded in 1953 in order to honour the visit of the German composer Richard Wagner to the city in 1880s and that is why it is also called the “Wagner Festival”.

Although the original emphasis of the festival was on the Wagner’s music, now the program has greatly extended and it features an amazing musical mix: Wagner, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Chopin together with chamber and jazz music.

When to visit the Ravello Music Festival

This break is focused on The Ravello Symphonic Music Festival which runs from 8th July to 27th August and is held with the stage overhaging the rocks in the Villa Rufolo Gardens with the dramatic view over the sea.

In bad weather they will move the concert inside the villa. This programme is available as a download from the detailed itinerary on the travel plan.

Please note the Ravello Chamber Music Festival runs from 1st April to 31st Oct 201 and is held in the gardens of Villa Rufolo (NOT with the stage overhanging the rocks) in June & Sept and inside the Villa Ruffolo April, May, Oct.
