During its construction, the remains of a Viking longhouse from the Settlement Period were found - now on display. Among the finds excavated at the site were Iceland's oldest human remains, dating from approximately 870 AD.

Alternatively the unique two-person igloo cabins made of aluminium provide a front row view of the Ice Fjord. The igloos are located just a short walk from the hotel but in many ways they are in a totally different universe.
