DAY 1
Fly to Kiruna. Northern Lights Sami Evening

On arrival in Kiruna a guide will meet and transfer you to your hotel, The Arctic Eden, where you will be kitted out in your complimentary Arctic Clothing.

This evening Hakan, your Sami guide, will take you onto his land for an encounter with his reindeer. After feeding them you will learn about Sami life, before taking an outing into the wilderness on a Snowmobile Sled.

Journey through the dark forest and glide over the frozen river in pursuit of the aurora borealis. At the end gather around the fire in the Sami Tepee (lavvu) to enjoy hot drinks and snack dinner. Hakan will share his many stories with regard to Sami mythology and history.

Late evening drop back at the Arctic Eden Hotel.

DAY 2
Day Snowmobile Tour and Ice Hotel Visit

After breakfast your guide will meet and transfer you to a spectacular valley near Kiruna for your snowmobile adventure. You will enjoy a day of exploration in the arctic wilderness. The terrain includes frozen rivers and lake systems of the region with remarkable views before you.

You will cover about 40 kilometres in your day, which will also include lunch back at Máttaráhkká Sami Lodge. The valley is home to some wildlife so you could bump into the occasional Reindeer!

Mikko will then drop you down at the world famous Ice Hotel where you can spend a couple of hours touring the hotel, marvelling at the Art Suites, having a drink in the Absolut IceBar or doing some shopping.

At around 6pm transfer back to Hotel Arctic Eden where you have an evening at leisure and dinner included at the Arctic Thai restaurant adjacent to the hotel.

Alternatively, if you want to do something a bit special tonight then we can suggest the dinner and Northern Lights hot tub evening at Mattarahkka Sami Lodge, or an evening at Hotel Arctic Eden, where you can indulge your taste buds with the Romantic "Best of Local Foods" menu. DAY 3
Day Wilderness Sled Dog Adventure. Abisko Northern Lights

After breakfast your guide will pick you up for your 4 hour experience in the wilderness driving a husky sled dog team. With one team between two people you can take turns driving!

Glide over frozen lakes and through woods enjoying the beautiful snowy landscapes around you. Stop for a wilderness lunch before a return journey back to Kiruna.

Early evening transfer by bus to Abisko, the Northern Lights Capital of Europe. Check in at Abisko Mountain Lodge, where you will enjoy a delicious 3 course dinner (or at the Aurora Sky Station for a small supplement) prior to taking the chairlift up Mount Nuolja to the Aurora Sky Station, which offers visitors a panoramic view over Lapporten, the Abisko Alps and Tornetrask.

During the winter nights this is, dependent on weather conditions, one of the best places on earth for consistent sightings of the Northern Lights .

Return to Abisko Mountain Lodge late in the evening and overnight.

DAY 4
Train Trip to Norwegian Fjords.

Train adventure down to Narvik on the Norwegian coast. The journey, entirely north of the Arctic Circle, takes you along a fantastic landscape of mountains and fjords separating Sweden from Norway. The scenery is breathtaking.

On arrival you have a couple of hours to have lunch and enjoy the small coastal town of Narvik with its interesting naval history before returning to Abisko by train.

The train trip is best done after the 01 Feb. For clients travelling before 01 February this day can be used for one of the optional activities listed below. Ice fishing and Ice Climbing are all highly recommended. These activities carry a supplementary cost.

Enjoy dinner in Abisko Mountain Lodge and an evening at leisure.

Alternatively, spend the evening doing one of the a la Carte activities listed below. We would particularly recommend the Photography evening. More details below.

Dinner, Hot Tub and Northern Lights
A wonderfully relaxing evening hopefully seeing the Northern Lights at Mattarahkka Sami Lodge. Enjoy an excellent 3-course Lappish dinner prior to spending time in the roof-top hot tub from where you can relax and enjoy the star filled night sky and with a little luck even see the Northern Lights dancing above you.

Although the temperature outside is below zero, you will be really warm in the hot tub. If the 35-40 degree celcius water isn´t enough enjoy a warm sauna in the special relaxation zone.

Please note each couple gets a 1 hour time slot for the hot tub.

Night in Art Suite at World Famous Ice Hotel
The Ice Hotel in Swedish Lapland ranks as one of the most unusual and inspiring places to stay.

Now in its 22nd edition, each year the hotel is unique. As the temperature in Jukkasjärvi drops below zero Ice Artists descend from all over the world to build this magnificent creation. Using only frozen water from the Torne River, their art is created with imagination and hard work, only to melt away under the unforgiving rays of the sun come springtime. All that remains are your impressions, memories and photograph.

The suites are something out of the ordinary. All the rooms have LCD TV, DVD-player and a home-cinema system. Wireless Internet works in all of the rooms.

The fully tiled bathrooms are equipped with floor-heating, whirlpool baths, massage showers with inbuilt music systems and personal saunas make these some of the best we have seen anywhere in Lapland.

Weekend a la Carte offer this wonderful small lodge exclusively to its clients. Based near Kiruna it is the perfect base for couples or small groups to experience the best of Lapland.

This quiet, warm and inspiring environment used to be a Sami handicraft centre until the owners had the idea to turn into a private retreat. With only 5 bedrooms open plan lounge and dining area with log fire, sauna and northern lights hot tub this is really a place to come and unwind.

One of the beauties of the location is that you can snowmobile out from your front door into the arctic wilderness and the sled dog kennel is less than a kilometre away. Evenings are focused on good food, relaxation and the Northern Lights.

Northern Lights Photography Evening
Join “Lights Over Lapland” photographer Chad Blakley for an opportunity to see and photograph the aurora borealis in the wilderness of Abisko National Park. Due to clear skies and virtually no light pollution, Abisko is one of the greatest places in the world to see the Northern Lights. Chad will provide you with a high quality camera & lens and teach you the skills that you will need to find and photograph the magical aurora borealis. Even if you have never used a camera before you have an extremely high chance of going home with some beautiful aurora photographs and memories that will last a lifetime! Small groups ensure a very personal and genuine experience.

The Lapland Ice Fishing Championship is often held on the Tornetrask lake and this provides a wonderful location for anyone to try their hand during the season. Surrounded by mountains and beautiful vista nothing could be better.

Dick Johannson is one of the best mountain guides and under his team's instruction a half day spent ice climbing is quite an exceptional experience. Develop your skills on a frozen waterfall – something that gives you a real adrenalin rush.

DAY 1
Transfer to Kangos where you will enjoy a homemade dinner and spend the evening in the timber lodge preparing for your husky adventure in the arctic. There is also a sauna and hot tub for relaxation.

DAY 2 - DAY 4
Before setting off have a comprehensive brief. Everyone will be driving their own 4 dog team and each day will be 5-6 hours sledding.

Enjoy 3 days of being in the wilderness experiencing the silence of the Arctic. Lunch will be served along the route and before nightfall you will arrive at your log cabins.The day ends in a warm cabin with a wholesome home cooked meal.

On Day 4 enjoy your last wilderness lunch gathered around an open fire prior to returning to basecamp after a journey of 150 kilometres north of the Arctic circle.

Spend the night at Pine Tree Lodge with a home cooked meal and sauna and over a few drinks to recount the tales of the last few days.
