Sled Dog Adventure Holiday

After the flight to Kiruna or Kittilä airport, you will be picked up by your host. Drive to Pine Tree Lodge in Kangos, a small village 150 km north of the Arctic Circle set in the northern Torne river valley. After arrival in Kangos meet the huskies and get a chance to learn more about these remarkable animals.

Enjoy a homemade dinner and spend the evening in the timber lodge preparing for your husky adventure in the arctic. There is also a sauna and hot tub for relaxation.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before your guide walks you to the kennel. Pack provisions for the trek prior to harnessing the dogs. Before setting off have a comprehensive brief on the journey ahead and instructions from the guide how to mush and take care of your own team of 4-5 dogs. Everyone will be driving their own sled dog team and each day will be 5-6 hours sledding.

Lunch will be served along the route and before nightfall arrive at the timber cottage where you will spend the night. Enjoy dinner cooked by the guide and perhaps wander around outside if the Northern Lights are present.

After a good night's sleep in a small wood cabin start the day by taking care of the dogs whilst the guide cooks breakfast. After feeding the dogs enjoy breakfast and discuss the routing for the day.

Harness the huskies and head off. The only sounds that can be heard are the breathing of the dogs and the noise of their paws on the snow. Stop after 2-3 hours and enjoy lunch out in the wild before the dogs beckon you to continue the journey to the next wilderness lodge. Continue mushing for 2-3 hours.

The day ends in a warm cabin with a wholesome home cooked meal before settling down to sleep.

After 2 days mushing you will feel at one with your dog team and your environment. Relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you glide along frozen rivers, through deep forests and on shimmering white plains.

Enjoy your last wilderness lunch gathered around an open fire prior to returning to basecamp after a journey of 150 kilometres north of the Arctic circle.

Spend the night at Pine Tree Lodge with a home cooked meal and sauna and over a few drinks to recount the tales of the last few days.

Breakfast is served prior to transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
