Whale Watching Icelandic Holiday

HIGHLIGHTS: Combine a 2 night stay in Husavik, the Whale Watching Capital of Europe with a 2 night stay in Reykjavik to experience the Blue Lagoon & Golden Circle including; Gullfoss, Pingvellir, Geysers and a Glacier Snowmobiling experience.

You may ask why go to Husavik for Whale Watching. Three reasons!

1) With a 98% incidence of whale sightings, Husavik is not called the European Capital of Whale Watching for no reason!
2) The scenery is simply breathtaking
3) You have the opportunity to whale watch whilst sailing on a traditional restored schooner!

Take a look at the short video opposite to see what you may experience on a Husavik Whale Watching trip.

The charming town of Husavik is an authentic fishing town filled with colourful houses and a restaurant right on the harbour serving fresh local seafood. We would recommend you visit the Whale museum with its fascinating insights, whale skeletons and gain an insight into the whale research in the area.

This afternoon venture out in a traditional oak fishing boat on a 3 hour trip in search of Humpback, Orcas, Blue and Minke Whales. All the skippers have over 10 years of whale searching under their belts and have an incredible 98% success rate since 1995!

The Whale Watching tours run through the day so you can choose a different time if you prefer. For example between June - mid August you can take a very evocative evening Whale Watching 3hr trip under the Midnight Sun!

Also recommended is a visit to the beautiful Lake Myvatn created 2300 years ago by a basaltic lava eruption and now teeming with bird life. Geothermal activity abounds and fascinating lava shapes and lava pillars can be seen in all directions.

Krafla with its dramatic 800m high Caldera and 10km diameter should not be missed. In fact the region abounds with natural wonders! Overnight in Husavik.

Occasionally we find a little treasure which exceeds every expectation. Hotel Budir is one such gem. Situated in the most breathtaking setting imaginable, depending on which window you look out of you can view mountains, glaciers, lava fields, volcanoes and the sea.
