Iceland Northern Lights Holiday Extension

Luxurious 2 night stay in the best place to see the Northern Lights in Iceland

Find out more
For those looking for some peace and relaxation why not extend your Reykjavik City Break above for 2 nights to include a stay at Hotel Ranga, 2 hr self drive south of Reykjavik. Hotel Ranga offers luxury, serenity and relaxation in Iceland's countryside.

The world-famous volcano Mt. Hekla is clearly visible from Hotel Rangá's front door, and the close by Highlands attracts visitors seeking a peculiar lunar-type landscape, volcanic black-sand deserts, hot-springs, the colorful Landmannalaugar area, and the Thjórsárdalur Viking settlement farm. Off the South Coast the Westman Islands offer spectacular views of mountains, seabirds and an extraordinary volcanic history.

The hotel is luxurious with a superb river side restaurant. However what Hotel Ranga is famous for is that it is one of the best places in Iceland to see the Northern Lights.

It is in an area where clear skies are more usual than elsewhere, which is very good for Aurora Borealis viewing. Also as the hotel lies in a secluded, countryside area without external lighting the hotel provides excellent opportunity to view the Northern Lights without light interference or pollution.

Sitting in one of the outdoor hot tubs with a drink is the most wonderful place to watch the skies to see if the Northern Lights appear. Please see the video opposite to get a taster of the Northern Lights in Iceland

The Blue Ice trip or super jeep tours up onto the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano Tour OR Þórsmörk and Waterfalls can also be arranged
