Day 3
Bimah Sinkhole, Wadi Tiwi and Shaab, Turtle watch

Today you will embark on a thrilling private drive from Muscat to Ras Al Jinz with the Arabian Sea on one side and rocky cliffs on the other. You will stop at Bimah Sinkhole a spectacular limestone crater, where we would recommend you have a swim.

This morning you will visit picturesque Wadis surrounded by lush plantations, and stop for a picnic lunch at Wadi Tiwi, and a photo stop overlooking the stunning Wadi Shaab.

Tonight you will arrive at Ras Al Jinz, one of the largest nesting areas for Green Turtles in the Indian Ocean. An average of 30,000 nest on the beach here. The Turtle Reserve opens at night to give you the chance to see one of them.

The best time for seeing the Turtles is June to September though you can see them year round and even out of season on average 1 will visit a night, though of course we cannot guarantee them. Overnight in Ras Al Jinz Reserve.

However you are staying here for the access to the turtles, rather than for the accommodation being unique as it is quite simple, but the experience of the turtles is quite exceptional.

The beach is open till 1.30 when it is closed so as not to scare the Turtles away. There is an interactive Turtle museum on site as well.

Reviews & Feedback

Testimonials

"I didn't expect the variety - The desert was like nothing i have experienced before,
the dolphins were everywhere all around us and we were lucky enough to see 4 turtles laying eggs...and the hatchlings coming out too. A truly amazing trip. Thankyou!"

"The holiday exceeded expectation in almost every way. A thoughtful and kind guide with a good un-derstanding of the social and political aspects of the country; a good and safe driver, never appearing to be in a hurry and prepared to stop whenever asked. Dolphin watch- well done, safe and enjoyable. Coastal escapade and turtles - what a beautiful country. Dhows and Dunes - fantastic. The Desert Nights Camp was outstanding."
