This break starts with two nights at the iconic 5 star Victoria Falls Hotel in Zimbabwe and is the perfect spot to take in the sights and experience some adrenaline fuelled activities at Victoria Falls, Africa’s adventure capital!
Then head off into Botswana for some unparalleled game viewing for six nights in two luxury camps located in exclusive private reserves teeming with animals and birdlife.
Arrive into Victoria Falls Airport and be met for a private road transfer to the iconic 5 star luxury Victoria Falls Hotel to spend 2 nights in a Deluxe Room with breakfast included.
Built in 1904, the historic Victoria Falls Hotel is an icon, its gracious colonial architecture leading out to expansive terraces and lawns overlooking the Victoria Falls Bridge. Décor includes the memorabilia and old-world charm of a bygone era, a nod to the pioneers and explorers whose fame lives on, immortalised in the hotel’s elegant style.
Using the mist from the Falls as a beacon, stroll through attractively landscaped gardens along a private pathway, to the scenic Victoria Falls rainforests. High Tea is served on the terrace, a delightful tradition which fits so well with the atmosphere and ethos of this luxurious hotel.
We highly recommend you embark on a two hour Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi Royal to experience the sights and sounds of the Zambezi River. This is a spacious and contemporary cruise boat seating a maximum of 28 guests.
Depart Victoria Falls by private road transfer travelling west to cross the border into Botswana. Then take a light aircraft deep into the bush to Selinda Private Reserve where you will be met at the airstrip for your 4×4 transfer into Selinda Explorers Camp.
Spend 3 nights in a Meru style tent, fully inclusive with its expedition-style decor complete with ensuite bucket showers and flushing toilet.
With the wildlife viewing activities mainly focused on guided walks and canoe trips followed by open vehicle game drives, this area is a wildlife hotspot which is home to huge herds of elephant and buffalo. It is here that lion, wild dog, sable and roan antelope are all spotted on a regular basis.
Depart Selinda Explorers Camp and take a scenic light aircraft flight to the Okavango Delta. The Delta is a heavenly waterworld teeming with animal and birdlife! It lies in the heart of Botswana’s Kalahari desert and exists due to the Angolan rains flooding down the so called pan handle each year and fanning out into a myriad of water systems.
Spend 3 nights at Shinde Camp in a Classic Luxury Safari Tent, Fully inclusive.
Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate, classic camp located on the edge of Shinde Lagoon, which simply teems with animal and birdlife.
Shinde is so well located in the delta that it offers both land and water based game viewing activities. This is a super combination allowing for 4×4 game drives with your personal guide in specially designed game viewing vehicles, as well as motorboat and mokoro safaris to explore this aquatic wonderland.
We ensure maximum of 4 guests in each vehicle. On top of that adventure, there are also walking safaris and fishing enthusiasts can try their hand at catching tilapia or tigerfish.
On your final day of your Botswana & Victoria Falls trip, you will be driven to Shinde airstrip to catch your flight to Maun for your onward travel.
The Victoria Falls Hotel is an African classic, built during the Edwardian period in 1904. With its iconic backdrop of the Victoria Falls Bridge the "Grand Dame" of Victoria Falls has long been a favourite with discerning travellers from all corners of the world.
With its distinctive white walls and red roof it provides a perfect balance of modern comfort combined with Edwardian elegance and old world charm. Echoing its glorious past the long carpeted corridors of the main building are lined with drawings of maps and photographs of pioneers and famous explorers. Here one finds 119 front facing deluxe rooms, suites and standard rooms which have courtyard or garden view. The adjacent Stable Wing houses two honeymoon suites and a further 42 spacious deluxe rooms.
Tread in the footsteps of Livingstone and Selous in this small tented camp on the banks of the Selinda Spillway in the huge Selinda private reserve. Under a canopy of towering jackalberry and mangosteen trees, four custom-designed tents embody the philosophy of exploration. Each tent contains campaign style furniture and exotic soft furnishings from Zanzibar and the East.
The camp’s focal point is the Bedouin-style main area consisting of a lounge and separate dining room. Rekindling the magic of an expedition camp of safaris gone by, hot and cold water are provided in large jugs on demand for the copper vanities. The separate ensuite flush toilet and bucket shower area, although enclosed at the sides, are open to the stars above.
Shinde is an intimate camp at the edge of Shinde Lagoon nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta. The area teems with a great variety of animals and bird life.
Accommodation is in eight classic safari tents, incorporating a spacious bathroom with a large walk-in shower and luxurious fittings. Wide sliding doors leading onto the extended front decks afford breathtaking views over the open floodplains and the waterways of the Delta.
The main lodge’s unique 'tree house' comprises a multi-tiered and canvas covered raised dining and lounge area. Its setting, amongst the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees, complements the atmosphere of this truly original safari camp.
Every possible comfort has been catered for – from mosquito nets, electric ceiling fans, generated electricity and a private viewing deck through to a decanter of sherry!

Alternatively, if you want to escape the British Winter, then we highly recommend a safari in Botswana between November and March. It is a delight to see the explosion of new life, vibrant floral displays and the spectacular bird species in full breeding plumage. It is also great value for money during this period!
How fortuitous to find The Big 5 Safari Company - they were professional, efficient and not least, willing and able to design a trip to meet our expressed desires and aspirations.
The guides were awesome in their knowledge and we learnt so much from them travelling from the Kalahari, through the Okavango to Linyanti before some R&R at Victoria Falls. We thought this would be a one off high end experience, but no...we booked a return trip within weeks of coming back!
We had an amazing time. Starting at Victoria Falls, the Zambezi cruise was a great start to our holiday. The lodge at Victoria Falls was fabulous with great accommodation and lovely food. We saw plenty of animals visiting the water hole from our room giving us a taste of what was to come.
Our transfer to the Chobe Princess houseboat in Botswana was well organised and the trips out to the river bank were great and the guide was very knowledgeable and always made every effort to make sure we could see as much as possible and get as close as we could. – it surpassed expectations.
All in all, it was a fabulous holiday which has left us with many wonderful memories of Africa. The venues were first class and organisation seamless. I would certainly recommend your company and in fact I've already passed your details on to my friend.
