The whole trip was brilliant from start to finish, everything went without a hitch. We are very well travelled and my husband is still raving about one of the best holidays he has ever had. We have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world, Hotel Ranga is up there with them. The aurora were visible all 3 nights. Service was extremely friendly; a lovely touch when the owner greets you and chats throughout the stay. The activities were excellent. We would like to commend Magnus who took us to Porsmork for his knowledge cordiality. We will definitely be using Weekend a la Carte again.Kind Regards. Jane.
Just wanted to send you our thoughts on our trip to Turkey. The flights through Turkish Airlines was truly brilliant, the flight crew was very friendly and treated us well. On arrival in Cappadocia our transfer to the Cave Hotel was quick and our driver was very friendly. The room in the cave hotel exceeded all expectations and the food was very good too. Our guides and drivers for the two days were very friendly. Our guide was very proud of his heritage. His knowledge of the area and all its history provided lots of discussion points as we saw the sights and travelled around. It was also good that he joined us at meal times explaining the local menus allowing us to experience the local delicacies. The balloon ride over Goreme was magnificent. We obviously arrived in the dark but as the day began to break the sight of over a hundred balloons lifting off at the same time was amazing. We even saw the sun "waking up" over the mountain. In Istanbul we enjoyed the company of our tour guide who had a vast knowledge of her countries history, culture and religion and we saw so much during our time with her. We particularly enjoyed the luxury boat trip along the Bosphorus in what could only be described as a millionaires boat. I could not end without a special mention of the driver and guide who took us back to the airport. At the time we left there was an increase in security within the very busy Istanbul airport. Our guide escorted us through all the increased checks, talking to security staff on our behalf and stayed with us right through to passport control. The last part of our journey remained a stress and hassle-free experience. Once again many thanks for the effort you put into organising the Weekend a la Carte experiences and the choices of places, hotels and people that you use. It was also very nice to feel the warmth of the sunshine and no rain after such a wet summer here in the UK. Looking forward to our next holiday with you in February. Many thanks to you and all your staff. Colin and Ann.
We had a marvellous trip thank you. I did give our driver, Fara, a completed questionnaire but everything was positive, especially him. Fara looked after us so well and was very thoughtful about suggestions balancing interest up against ability. His suggestion of the Wadi Rum on the last day was excellent. I thought the team at WALC was very helpful and helped me plan a great trip. Kathryn.
We've just returned from the most amazing trip to Iceland. Incredible and so well organised. Our thanks to you and everyone involved in the organisation - it worked a treat. Hotel Ranga was superb, all the trips/guides/activities you arranged were spot on. Couldn't have been better and we had an incredible time. Want to sleep for a week(!) but it really was very special and we are grateful to you for the organisation that went into the trip and we shall certainly be recommending your Company to our friends. Regards Sally.
Just a line to say we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Turkey. The hotels were very good and all the arrangements went like clockwork. The guides in both Istanbul and Goreme were very knowledgeable, friendly and well organised. We particularly enjoyed our luxurious boat trip where the Captain allowed Alan to pilot the boat along and across the Bosphorus, fortunately without running in to a Russian oil tanker! We have never flown with Turkish Airlines before and we were very impressed with their efficiency and service. The food on the flight was good too. We shall certainly fly with them again given the choice. We have already recommended Weekend a La Carte to friends. This is our third very successful trip with the company and will certainly book again. Regards Dorothy.
Our Venice trip was a great success with your particular arrangements being excellent. Thank you very much. Venice was as magic as ever and the weather generally fine: the Europa Hotel was really excellent in all respects; the opera equally so, whilst the Met tasting dinner and water taxi service were also most enjoyable. Stewart.
Many thanks for your email. The Palio and the entire 3 days leading up to it, were fabulous and extremely well organised. We particularly enjoyed (as well as the crazy race itself) the Contrada dinner and the blessing of the horse in the church, because it's there that you realise just how seriously the Palio is taken, and what a huge event it is for the town. The guide we had, Paolo, was lovely, and very organised. The hotel was very well situated, and the gardens very welcome in the heat. We would recommend your company to others wishing to do the same trip (indeed we already have), and would definitely use you for future occasions. Many thanks for all your help and efficiency (and telephone friendliness). All best wishes for a good end of the summer. Debbie.
I don't quite know where to start. This has been the trip of a lifetime. Because we don't do flying and prefer not to spend our holiday behind the wheel of a car, travel is best by rail. In such circumstances it requires detailed planning to go smoothly. It certainly achieved that which is entirely down to your excellent organisation. Our grateful thanks to all at Weekend a la Carte and Abigail in particular. Also to your Italian partners who picked us up at the various stations and hotels. It's not everyday that a supermodel drives you from A to B in air conditioned luxury. It was the start. The hotel was very good and well situated to enjoy the city. Everything was in easy walking distance including the amphitheatre where we enjoyed a performance of Carmen presented in Cecil B de Mille extravagance. We visited the amphitheatre in the morning and sat enthralled by the set building which was like watching a giant wood puzzle being put together... The transfer to Firenze by train showed the deficiencies of our rail system. Italy can certainly show this country a thing or two about rail travel. The Hotel Brunelleschi was without doubt the high spot of our holiday accommodation. We were upgraded to a suite complete with sitting room, dressing area, four poster bed, private balcony and a luxury bathroom with a huge spa bath. But with temperatures at 37C everyday the very effective air conditioning was much appreciated. The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Firenze. All the major attractions are within easy walking distance and the quiet location means that the street life at night is left behind.. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Thanks for putting it on the itinerary. We took the opportunity to visit Pisa again by train and did the usual stuff of photographing each other holding up the Tower. Also the Stibbert Museum was a highlight of our stay ... The museum is truly exceptional if you're into armour and costume and certainly worthy if a recommendation to your clients. Quite apart from the size of the exhibits, one of the largest collections of its kind in the world, the gardens are extensive and beautiful. In order to house the exhibits, Federico Stibbert acquired the properties either side if an already extensive villa and connected then into one dwelling. One evening in the Piazza delta Repubblica we we're finishing our glass of wine when two buskers came into the square. An accordion player and a young woman with an amazing voice. Instead of walking onto the Ponte Vecchio, we sat for over an hour listening to a performance of Russian folk songs and famous arias by these two very talented people. It turns out that they were Anatoliy Grischuk and Natalia Lopushanskaya who travel to Firenze every year to perform on the streets for three months. Look for them on You Tube. They are very good. I am amazed nobody has tried to put Ms Lopushanskaya in particular onto the stage. Apparently they are very well known in the city. Our trip to Siena for the Palio was amazing. We were fully immersed in the event and in so doing enjoyed it far more than as a simple traditional spectacle. The Hotel Athena is at the entrance to the town. There's lots to do and there is a lot of walking but we were prepared for that. The hotel was very good and again we were grateful for the air con, but I feel that the hotel management have missed a trick by not making more of the roof terrace which overlooks the medieval walls. After the first day we met our guide Maria who really made the Palio come alive for us. A native of Siena and the Forest (Silves) Contrada she knew her town very well both in terms of its history, as a centre of religious art and the traditions of The Palio. She was very engaging and enthusiastic and took us all at a pace where we coped with the physical demands of what could have been a challenging walk around Siena.. Climbing the stairs for the Proves was a challenge for us all, including a young couple from America but we all made it to the top to be greeted by a surprising breeze not felt at street level. The Proves produced a moment of drama when the Carabinieri charged around the square with sabres drawn. One of the horsemen crashed into a padded wall instead of leaving the Campo at the gallop. Fortunately the only injuries to horse and rider was pride. Afterwards we enjoyed a special evening with the Onde Contrada. The wine flowed very very generously and so did the food! Then the singing started which we all enjoyed even if we didn't quite understand it. A very local and enjoyable evening. The day of the race started with a further walk with Maria. we got to see the blessing of the horse and walked with the Contrada's to the Campo and the flag parade. Our balcony gave a great view of the spectacle and the race itself... We found a very nice restaurant away from the Campo to finish our stay before departing for Firenze and the train to Milan. A brief time to be impressed by the fantastic facade of the station and then to Paris for our final night in the Rue de Rivoli. It's been a very special holiday and one which we will remember forever. Truly several bucket list moments have been ticked. Thanks once again for your expertise and skill at ensuring we had the perfect break. Til next year. Best wishes, Richard and Jojo.
Our trip to Verona and Lake Garda was a great success. Everything was exactly as we wanted it. All the transfers you organised were first class. Lovely cars, very pleasant drivers and an excellent door to door service. The Accademia Hotel was superb from the reception welcome drink to the high standard of accommodation and excellent breakfast. It was also less than 5 minutes from the arena, right in the centre of everything. The opera was fabulous, you got us great seats. Lake Garda was stunning. We loved the Hotel Grande and had a fantastic romantic dinner on the last night. It was in fact our best meal of the trip. I can honestly say the whole trip and your organisation for it was first class, we could not fault it in any way, other than another day at Lake Garda would have been nice, but maybe it's better to leave wanting more. We will definitely consider using Weekend a la Carte again in the future. I think it may be for Rome next year. Many thanks to you and all involved in our holiday, regards Graeme.
Just a quick note to thank you and the team for arranging such a wonderful trip to Jordan for us. We had a truly memorable time and really appreciated the help you provided in making sure we had an amazing time. We would be grateful if you would reiterate how much Amer Abu Rezeq, our guide, contributed to the success of our holiday - it would be hard to imagine being any better looked after. We may have been back almost a week now, but we are still on a high from our trip and are happily recommending Weekend a la Carte & Jordan, to everyone we speak to. John and Alison.
The trip far exceeded our expectations thank you, the country was spectacular. Please convey our thanks to all the team that made this such a special holiday (and my 50th birthday!), they were all so friendly and informative and we felt very privileged to have tours to ourselves. It went like clockwork and the weather was favourable for us. We had an incredible time on all the trips and this was a holiday that will be hard to beat. Everyone we met that had also come with your company were full of praises. We will definitely use you again.
We had the most FANTASTIC holiday, perhaps the best holiday I have ever had. We were looked after impeccably by your representatives over there who were both charming and efficient, the food was impeccable - amazing every night, the accommodation was amazing, the dogs were the best thing of the whole trip and our guide was second to none ..... we are both so excited about how incredible it was and will certainly be recommending you in the future to all of our friends. It was a brilliantly thought out and planned trip and the level of service we received from everyone over there was just amazing. we felt like kings and queens. Your guys did not let us down one bit, the whole thing was better then we could have possibly expected. You even planned the weather perfectly (!!!!) which was beautiful every day. Thank you so so much and we will certainly be in contact again in the future to use you for any other special trips we take.
Hi Kevin, just to say we had a fabulous trip - wonderful aurora over Abisko last night - stunning to watch as we descended in the chair lift. A wonderful 3 days I just want to add to that by saying the service from A la Carte exceeded all of my expectations, you went above and beyond to deliver a fantastic holiday. We would definitely use you again and will point everyone planning a weekend trip in your direction!
This is to let you know that our trip to Verona was wonderful thank you for the brilliant organisation. The flights went smoothly, the pick-ups were punctually accomplished by charming taxi drivers. The hotel Accademia was conveniently situated and very comfortable. The opera seats were excellent and we enjoyed dressing for the occasion. Aida was spectacular. The Grand Hotel Gardione was sublime ... Thanks again. The arrangements could not be faulted.
My son and I took a Lapland trip with Weekend A La Carte and have only the highest praise for Kevin and the organization. Our flight was cancelled and he worked heroically all Saturday night to make alternative arrangements for us. The Arctic Eden Hotel and all the other parts of the trip were excellent, with very friendly and helpful people. Altogether, it was even better than we had dreamt of and I would highly recommend their service. Hopefully one day I'll be back for more! Regards Cassandra.
The holiday was excellent - from start to finish. Met promptly at the airport; superb hotel; made excellent use of the 5 day pass - lots to see! - and brilliant seats for the opera. An absolutely five star experience: thank you. Peter.
Just got back from Kiruna after going away for the four nights Northern Lights trip. I just wanted to say thank you so so much for arranging such an amazing time for us. It was out of this world and everything you said it would be. When I first found your website and searched for this holiday I thought it was too good to be true - but it was just like you said. I haven't got a favourite part because all the excursions (husky sleigh, snowmobile at night for Northern Lights, Abisko etc) were just fantastic. The people and staff were so friendly and as you know I am a vegetarian and they were so accommodating. I would recommend the trip to anyone, a true lifetime experience. THANK YOU KEVIN.
On Saturday evening we watched a wonderful performance of La Boheme from the 19th row of Gold seats in the main arena from where we had a fabulous view of the stage and afterwards sat in a cafe and drank coffee till 1am. On Sunday we watched the most magnificent production of Aida from the 12th row of Gold seats in the main arena so an even better view! Words cannot describe this performance – at times there were at least 200 people on stage plus horses and musicians. The spectacle will remain with us for ever.
Many, many thanks for arranging the most wonderful trip for us. Everything was perfect - the organisation went like clockwork, the people so friendly, accommodation great and the Arctic and the Northern Lights everything we had imagined and more! We are both agreed that this has been the best holiday experience we've ever had - dog sledding, ice hotel, snowmobiling though the darkness and seeing the Northern Lights - it's impossible to say which was the greatest ..... loved it all and we are now complete Artcticophiles! Without a doubt we'll be using Weekend a la Carte again. Thanks again Maureen and Maurice.
The trip to Verona was a 70th birthday present. They had an absolutely wonderful time and has been a real once in a lifetime experience for them. They haven't stopped talking about it since their return. I would like to send our thanks for being so helpful and the trip fully meeting with our expectations.
